Water printing for pre-preg carbon fibre orthoses
Now we have a possibility to decorate carbon fibre orthoses in different colours and patterns. This option could be particularly interesting when producing orthosis for children. The range includes such patterns as woodgrain, camouflage, geometric shapes, etc.
This 3D decorating technique is called Water Transfer Printing (Hydrographics). The process utilises water-soluble film that contains the printed designs. Once an activator has been applied, the film dissolves and leaves the ink on the surface of the water. In such a way any complicated 3D shape can be smoothly covered.
The ink from the hydrographic film is very durable itself. Additionally a clear coat is applied to protect decorated items to ensure that they last for years. The clear coat is the same as used in automotive industry, therefore the finishing is resistant to UV radiation as well as scratch-proof.Back
